History of Victory Christian Centre Assemblies of God Church London

The Church was established in 2004 by Rev Samuel Boateng, under the leadership of Rev Alexander Donkor, Presiding Bishop of Miracle Centre, Assemblies of God. The members (pioneers) who met for the first service were 8 and those who are still in the Church are: Isaac Tabi, Tony Owusu, Dennis Duah, Rita Duah, Bossman Owusu Ansah, and Prince Adu Mensah The first Service was held at 27 Newport Avenue, Plaistow, E13 8NS. We therefore moved to African Caribbean Centre the following week. The number began to increase, but unfortunately, the room could accommodate only 25 people.

The membership grew up to 30, the growth posed a big challenge due to the fact that the health and safety measures govern the hall does not permit such a huge membership. The whole church prayed earnestly and sought the face of God. God answered our prayer by providing a very big and comfortable place of worship at Lester Community School at Plaistow. We worshipped at Lister Community School for more than a year, later moved to St. Mary’s Church (Church of England) at Plaistow and then to St Martins Church (Church of England) at East Ham. In June 2012, we then moved to our present location at Leyton (210 Church road, Gatelands Unit 1. E10 7JQ). God has been faithful

THE 16 STATEMENTS OF FUNDAMENTAL TRUTHS

There are non-negotiable tenets of faith that all Assemblies of God churches adhere to. The Bible is our all-sufficient rule for faith and practice. This statement of fundamental truths is intended simply as a basis of fellowship among us (i.e that we all speak the same thing).

WE BELIEVE:

    1. The scriptures are inspired by God and declare His design and plan for mankind
    2. There is only one True God, revealed in three persons: Father, son and Holy Spirit (commonly known as the Trinity)
    3. AS God’s son, Jesus was born both human and divine.
    4. Though originally good, man willingly fell to sin – ushering evil and death, both physical and spiritual, into the world
    5. Every person can be restored to fellowship with God through salvation (accepting Christ’s offer of forgiveness for sin)
    6. And practice two ordinances-(a) water baptism by immersion after repenting of one’s sins and receiving Christ’s gift of salvation and (b) Holy communion (the Lord’s supper) as a symbolic remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death for our salvation
    7. The baptism in the Holy Spirit is a special experience following salvation that empowers believers for witnessing and effective service, just as it did in New Testament times.
    8. The initial physical evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in Tongues, as experienced on the Day of Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the epistles
    9. Sanctification initially occurs at salvation and is not only a declaration that a believer is holy, but also a progressive lifelong process of separating from evil as believers continually draw closer to God and become more Christ-like.
    10. The church has a mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin
    11. A divinely called and spiritually ordained leadership ministry serves the church
    12. Divine healing of the sick is a privilege for Christians today and is provided for Christ’s atonement( his sacrificial death on the cross for our sins)
    13. In the blessed hope- when Jesus raptures His church prior to His return to earth (the second coming)
    14. In the Millennial Reign of Christ when Jesus returns with His saints at His second coming and begins His benevolent rule over earth for 1,000 years
    15. A final judgement will take place for those who have rejected Christ

    16. And look forward to the perfect new heavens that Christ is preparing for all people of all time, who have accepted him.
